New Music: The Strokes - Angles

Years since The Strokes’ 2001 debut and their last album in 2006, "First Impressions of Earth," fans have been waiting somewhere in the realm of three years for their fourth album, Angles.

Three days ago, a week before its scheduled release in the US (22 March 2011), Angles was leaked in its entirety. Yesterday the band reacted by streaming the entire album on their website. After around two years in the making, finally, “proper fans” and “music-stealing fans” alike have the chance to hear The Strokes' fourth studio LP:

1 - Machu Picchu
2 - Under Cover of Darkess
3 - Two Kinds of Happiness
4 - You’re So Right
5 - Taken For a Fool
6 - Games
7 - Call Me Back
8 - Gratisfaction
9 - Metabolism
10 - Life is Simple in the Moonlight
Of the quintet, I'm digging Two Kinds of Happiness' and Machu Picchu's 80’s pop/rock feel, as well as Life is Simple in the Moonlight's guitar-and-keyboards blend. Taken For A Fool got the classic The Strokes feel and is a safe and sure ear-catcher.

It's definitely not their best album, but they sure sent off the cynics' doubts. In fact, I think, they have made the strongest Strokes record since "Is This It." As one fan said it, the boys once hailed as the saviors of rock and roll can still make an album. I say, they might actually still be the saviors of rock and roll.
